Born and brewed on the Isle of Wight
It's all about the ingredients
Every great chef will tell you to make a great plate of food you need the best ingredients, and that’s no different when brewing the finest ales.
Our ‘Breakfast of the Gods’ features the finest local produce and we are working towards the barley used in Goddards beers being grown right here on the Isle of Wight. The water originates from a spring in Knighton and when we have the chance, we use Island-grown hops.
Goddards takes the provenance of its beers seriously, so these local ingredients don’t just make a difference, they make all the difference from the first sip to the last.
Just add water
Apart from water, brewing beer requires just barley, hops and yeast. But each has a key part to play.
Hops in large supply have not been grown on the Isle of Wight for over a hundred years. However, sometimes we are able to use a locally grown crop. The Ventnor Botanic Garden cultivate a small hop garden as does Osborne House. When we have the opportunity to create a truly local brew, it’s always a cause for celebration.
All the other hops used in Goddards beer are chosen by in-house brewers to ensure only the finest are welcomed through the brew house door.
We know you appreciate the care taken in sourcing our main ingredients alongside the traditional brewing process. Every pint of Goddards beer is ‘born and brewed on the Isle of Wight’.
